Moncton Wesleyan is online only this Sunday!

We have had a direct conversation with the provincial health minister’s office. As we would be the largest event gathering in the city this weekend, they are requesting that we not have services in the church building this Sunday.

Even though we can’t meet in the Celebration Centre, fortunately, technology still allows us to connect! Join us ONLINE THIS SUNDAY for a 10:30am (AST) livestream from Youtube, or visit mw.church/watch

Remember our tithes and offerings can be given through mw.church/give or can be dropped off at the office this week.

Some of our pastoral staff are in self-quarantine because of previous international travel. However, if you or anyone you know needs help or prayer, let us know at mw.church/contact

For a more detailed MW statement with Scripture and strategies concerning Covid-19 visit mw.church/coronavirus

We’ll see you online at 10:30am (AST). We love you and remember: God’s got this!

With the evolving COVID-19 situation, as Christians, we have an opportunity to demonstrate faith over fear. That doesn’t mean we ignore the practical measures, it means we combine those measures with faith, information and discernment.

One of those key practical measures to minimize the spread of the virus is to avoid attending large gatherings.  For this reason, Moncton Wesleyan has decided to cancel the Easter Bunny Blast which was scheduled for Saturday, April 11th.

Easter Bunny Blast has grown in popularity year after year with attendance reaching over 3000. However, the event involves food, crafts, and games that are highly interactive, particularly for children. This makes the flu-prevention strategy of social distancing impossible to practice.

Although we are disappointed to cancel Easter Bunny Blast 2020, we believe it is the wise, safe and responsible thing to do.

In His Service,

Liz Hoyt – Pastor, Children’s Ministries

How do I view the church’s livestream? You can find our youtube link right here or on our website at mw.church/watch!

We stream our services on a website called “YouTube”. To view the services, go to youtube.com and type “Moncton Wesleyan Church” in the search bar at the top. You will see our orange icon that says “mw.church”. To the right of that, click on “Subscribe” and the bell icon for notifications. We start our stream every Sunday morning at 10:27, to give you 3 minutes to get on and setup!

A Word on Coronovirus from Moncton Wesleyan

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Philippians 4:6-7 (TM)

Everyone is in a stage of heightened awareness as world and community leaders manage the evolving situation with COVID-19. So what are we doing at Moncton Wesleyan?

Here is what we are doing as a church staff

  1. TRUSTING GOD: Viral disease is a fact of biological existence and part of the fallen world in which we live. To get our minds thinking biblically about such things, please spend some time praying through Romans 8:18-39.  Our trust in the Lord is what sets us apart from the world as our lives bear witness to the power of Christ.
  2. PRAYING: We must pray for the sick and the scared, for public health officials, for doctors and nurses, for researchers, and for caregivers. As Christians, we believe prayer has power, so we seek help from the Lord.
  3. STAYING INFORMED: The media is aflame with daily updates and it’s impossible to read, absorb and respond to every news report, Tweet, or latest rumor. We’re following a reliable list of information for educational, planning and management purposes, specifically from the federal government of Canada and the provincial government of New Brunswick.
  4. PREPARING: Because COVID-19 spreads like the cold and the flu, personal hygiene is very important. We have implemented additional routine cleaning practices to include all frequently touched surfaces in workplaces, restrooms, and nursery, including workstations, countertops, doorknobs, and toys. In addition to these practical steps, we’re also doing the following:

We’ve established a staff team that is meeting weekly (or more often as necessary) to review all of our efforts in response to COVID-19.

  • We’ve cancelled Easter Bunny Blast in April, and some other events as well. Please stay up to date with us at mw.church or on social media.
  • We’re reviewing all of our communication practices with the congregation and implementing appropriate communication – like this webpage.
  • We’re adjusting our greeting practices and encouraging everyone to “Nod and Wave to your Neighbour” as a preferred greeting over handshakes or other common physical greetings.

Here is what you can do to help

  1. Pray for our community and those directly affected by COVID-19. Pray for the health care workers treating the sick and pray wisdom for our public health administrators as they are tasked with making difficult decisions.
  2. Reflect Christ. In these anxious days, the church (all of us) can shine as a light of hope, care, faith, patience, and prudence. We can demonstrate to the world how our faith provides true assurance against worry and fear.
  3. Practice recommended personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently. Don’t touch your face/eyes/mouth. Avoid contact with the sick. Stay home if you’re sick and enjoy our streaming services at mw.church/watch

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body. . . . Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”  Matthew 6:25–27 (NIV)
